I understand the associations concerns and agree with them to some extent. However, blaming a possible increase of crime, traffic or parking issues purely based off the fact that this could be a potential cannabis dispensary is ridiculous. Any business that moves into that building would bring “more” traffic and parking issues. Crime? The dispensary might actually help decrease the crime in this area because of the security the permit would call for. This area is already incredibly dense with crime that SRPD does absolutely nothing about. And the concern of “kids” walking by it everyday is understandable, but silly as well. They walk by liquor stores and gas stations that sell alcohol and cigarettes and still make it home safe and not under the influence of anything. Trust them. And trust that this dispensary would not be selling or influencing to anyone who was not of age or possession of a medical card. They want to keep their business and permit. Also, isn’t that partly what security would be for?
