On Saturday, July 29, 2017, the City of Santa Rosa and Santa Rosa Metro Chamber are co-hosting the only full length IRONMAN triathlon event in California with a finish line in downtown Santa Rosa near Courthouse Square. The IRONMAN Santa Rosa will bring approximately 2,400 athletes and their support teams to Sonoma County where they will swim in Lake Sonoma, bike to downtown Santa Rosa, run the Santa Rosa Creek trail system, then finish in downtown Santa Rosa while covering 140.6 miles.

Traffic Detours & Road Closures in Place During Race
Your Saturday travel plans may need to be adjusted due to planned road closures and detours for the event. Please review the following list to plan accordingly. Visit www.srcity.org/IRONMAN/detours for an overview of key road closures and detours for the entire event, including those outside Santa Rosa.

Detours for Race Day, July 29, 2017, 8AM to 6PM
  • Coming from north of W 3rd St, use W College or Guerneville Rd to Hwy 101
  • Coming from south of W 3rd St, use Hwy 12 to Hwy 101
  • Coming from east of Petaluma Hill Rd, go north to SR Ave to Bennett Valley Rd to Hwy 12 or to S E St
  • Coming from west of Petaluma Hill Rd, use SR Ave to Hwy 101
  • No traffic will be allowed to cross Petaluma Hill Rd
  • Use Hwy 101/Downtown exit for SR Plaza – Use Morgan St to either the 5th St or 6th St entrance
  • Coming from east of E St, use College to Hwy 101 or Hwy 12 to Hwy 101
  • Expect delays on Hwy 12 west of Fulton Rd

Road Closures for Race Day, July 29, 2017, 8AM to 6PM
  • W. 9th Street Eastbound CLOSED between Dutton Ave & A Street
  • 7th Street CLOSED from A Street to B Street
  • B Street CLOSED from 5th Street to 1st Street
  • D Street CLOSED from A Street to Sonoma Ave
  • Pierson Street at Santa Rosa Creek Trail Closed from 9 AM to 12 AM Sunday
  • 1st Street CLOSED from A to Sonoma Avenue
  • Santa Rosa Avenue CLOSED from 3rd to Sonoma Avenue
  • 1 Northbound lane adjacent to Creek Trail on Fulton Road & Stony Point Road will be CLOSED

  • Third Street
    • CLOSED from B Street to D Street Westbound: Thursday 7/27 at 8AM to Sunday 7/30 at 8AM
    • Complete CLOSURE from B Street to D Street: Thursday 7/27 at 8PM to Sunday 7/30 at 8AM
    • CLOSED from Morgan Street to B Street: Saturday, 7/29 8AM - 5PM
  • Fourth Street
    • CLOSED from Mendocino to B Street: Thursday 7/27 at 2PM to Sunday, 7/30 at 8AM
    • CLOSED from B Street to D Street: Friday 7/28 at 8AM to Sunday, 7/30 at 8AM

Public Transportation & Downtown Parking

Santa Rosa CityBus Passengers Ride for FREE
There will be no fee to ride Santa Rosa CityBus on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Detours will be in place for several routes; review bus detour routes. Expect delays on all routes that day.

Parking Downtown
Downtown has several options for inexpensive parking if you plan to attend the event or to shop or dine downtown. View the parking map.

  • Lot 4: 608 Seventh Street
  • Lot 7: 769 Second Street
  • Lot 10: 730 Fifth Street
  • Lot 11: 540 Fifth Street
  • Lot 13: 200 Fourth Street
  • Lot 14: 200 Fifth Street
  • Lot 15: 210 Fifth Street
  • Lot D: 9 Fourth Street

Parking Garages:
  • Garage 1: 521 Seventh Street
  • Garage 12: 555 First Street (access may be closed during some hours on event day)
  • Garage 3: 735 Fifth Street
  • Garage 9: 97 D Street

12PM to 12AM - Athletes on RUN course and FINISH (MUST SEE: EACH ATHLETE PROCLAIMED AN IRONMAN AS THEY CROSS FINISH LINE!)
